Portraits

In class we watched a documentary on Richard Avedon. By watching the documentary we learned a lot about his style of photography. For this photo shoot we used a white background and black and white filter. We attempted to capture Richard Avedon's style of photography by capturing the emotion in our model's eyes.

  1. These are all really great photos! You did a nice job capturing Richard Avedon's style. Most of the photos are extremely successful and convey real emotions however the second one seems a little staged. Overall great work!

  3. I really like these. I specifically like how you used the same model in each photo. Even though the expressions aren't the same in each picture, there is a genuine aspect that is the same in each picture. I think it proves that your model is genuine because if she were posing for the camera, it would be harder to capture the same aspect several times. Good job.

  5. I really like the progressive change of emotions in this batch. I think its a cool aspect that I haven't seen anyone else capture yet. It seems at the top, your model is more happy and then as it goes down it turns into more serious. I got the impression that your photos reminded me of someone having a conversation that turns serious. Good job I really like them
